Catalina Island

Catalina Island is a place where the gentle rhythm of the waves makes time slow down. It’s a place where you can paddle through crystal clear waters in the crisp morning air, hike amongst the hills and abundant wildlife and enjoy sun soaked massages on the beach in the afternoon.

Avalon, or Avalon Bay, is the only city on Santa Catalina Island of the California Channel Islands, and the southernmost city in Los Angeles County.  Besides Avalon, the only other centre of population on the island is the small unincorporated town of Two Harbors.

Located on the west end at the island’s Isthmus, Two Harbors is a unique and rustic small island village getaway for outdoor and boating enthusiasts. Experience the rural surroundings of Two Harbors and Catalina’s interior.  Enjoy the stunning views of both Catalina Harbor and Isthmus Cove where you can swim, snorkel, scuba dive, or rent a kayak.

Following a 15-minute helicopter ride from the mainland to Pebbly Beach, you are met by your guide and transferred to the trailhead.

You commence a moderate 6 mile hike down the western slopes of the island, finishing at your camp in a secluded cove.

Day 2
Two Harbors

After an early breakfast you depart along the newly created Trans-Catalina trail. This trail undulates over the island’s many peaks and valleys showcasing Catalina’s rugged western coast.

The hike covers 4 miles before reaching the shores of Two Harbors. You are assisted with the loading of your kayaks and begin the second leg of your journey, paddling the island’s coast. You kayak 6 miles to a secluded cove whereupon you view your already set-up camp.

Day 3
Avalon

With a later start you have breakfast at camp and depart back to your final destination of Avalon. Along the coast you will come across plenty of marine and bird life as you paddle the remaining 10 miles back to base.

Enjoy lunch on the beach before meeting your helicopter in the early afternoon for a scenic ride back to the mainland.
