  • San Francisco

San Francisco, California is the financial, cultural, and transportation centre of the San Francisco Bay Area. The California Gold Rush in 1848 propelled the city into a period of rapid growth, increasing the population in one year from 1,000 to 25,000, and thus transforming it into the largest city on the West Coast at the time.

na-california-san-fransiscoAfter three-quarters of the city was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire, San Francisco was quickly rebuilt, hosting the Panama-Pacific International Exposition nine years later. San Francisco is now a destination for travellers from all over the world. Visitors come to see attractions such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz Island and of course the marvel of engineering, the Golden Gate Bridge.

  • Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park is located in the central eastern portion of California, covering an area of 761,268 acres and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain.  Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognised for its  cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves, and biological diversity.

na-california-yosemite-national-parkAlthough not the first designated national park, Yosemite was central to the development of the national park idea, largely owing to the work of people like Galen Clark and John Muir. The geology of the Yosemite area is characterised by granitic rocks and remnants of older rock created by massive glaciers building and retreating over thousands of years. This geological process has left the park with beautiful granite walls such as El Capitan and Half Dome and some of the world’s largest waterfalls such as Bridalveil and Yosemite Falls.

  • Big Sur

Three miles south of the beautiful city of Carmel-by-the-Sea and 123 miles south of San Francisco, Big Sur is more than a drive along one of the most dramatic coastlines on earth or a peaceful repose amid a forest of California redwoods. It's a stretch of wilderness so overwhelmingly beautiful that it enchants everyone who visits. It is one of the most romantic, relaxing places in California.

The allure of Los Angeles is undeniable. Angelenos know L.A. will never have the sophisticated style of Paris or the historical riches of Rome, but they lay claim to the most entertaining city in the United States, if not the world.  It really is warm and sunny most days of the year and movie stars actually do live and dine among regular folk and visitors.
