The stillness of Tufi's tropical rainforest fjords offers spectacular marine life, sponges and corals, while the crystal clear conditions of Kavieng offer excellent wreck diving, drift diving as well as caves and pelagics aplenty.

  • Tawali

    Tucked away, only accessible by boat, sits what may be Papua New Guinea's best kept scuba diving secret - Tawali Resort. Located on a volcanic bluff overlooking the clear protected waters of Milne Bay, Tawali offers a unique location to dive, relax and enjoy the unspoiled wonders of this magnificent part of the world.

    Dive Tawali Papua New GuineaThe diving from Tawali resort is incredibly convenient with the best diving of Milne Bay just minutes away. Tania’s Reef offers soft corals, giant clams and turtles, while Cobb’s Cliff has a 150ft drop off with large pelagics including manta rays and hammerhead sharks. Wahoo Point provides spectacular shallow shelf dives and a sheer wall where Manta Rays are frequently sighted. The site also hosts a variety of anemones, a school of barracuda and large elephant ear sponges.
  • Nusa Island

    Lying amongst many tiny islands and islets, Nusa Island offers waters that are rich in aquatic life and spectacular reefs that are highly acclaimed throughout the international diving community. Short boat transfers, uncrowded diving, warm water, and the remote and relaxed South Pacific atmosphere make for a wonderful dive location. Rustic accommodation provides a practical base.

  • New Britain

    If time allows, an extension to the lesser visited reefs of New Britain are well worth the effort. With being a little further afield, it offers a plethora of diving options and unspoilt reefs. The coral reefs have not been explored extensively and provide an education for even the most seasoned diver. 50% of the world’s known types of building coral can be found in this region.

    Dive New Britain Papua New GuineaSchools of barracuda, trevally, sea perch, fusilier, unicorn fish and surgeon fish mix with a variety of shark species, including scalloped hammerhead and tuna. Steep drop offs and volcanic credations provide numerous ledges, overhangs and small caves, adorned with hanging sponges and coral life. The area has a rich growth of many kinds of sponges as well as black coral, reef clams and ascidians. Snorkellers can also delight in the many beautiful gardens of hard corals that lie at the top of the reefs.

    Day 1: Port Moresby

    On arrival in Port Moresby you transferred to your accommodation. What remains of today is at your leisure. Epic suggests booking the services of a private guide to make the most of your time here. Visit Parliament House and a local school, or shop for artefacts and souvenirs.

    Day 2:Port Moresby / Tawali, Milne Bay

    Today you connect to Alotau, a 1 hour scenic flight over the forest clad ranges and reef fringed coast line. On arrival your guide will point out remnants of World War 11 battles as you enjoy the incredibly scenic drive to East Cape. Pass through villages where time stands still and people wave as you pass by then join your short boat ride to Tawali.

    Day 3 - 6: Tawali

    Tawali is built on a limestone bluff eighty feet above the water and is located in a secluded area amongst local fishing villages. This private retreat is the perfect base from which to explore the underwater wonders of East Cape region.

    Day 7: Tawali / Port Moresby / Kavieng / Nusa Island

    This morning you make your way by boat, road and plane back to Port Moresby. Here you connect with your flight to Kavieng (flight time 90 minutes) for the next leg of your diving expedition.

    Upon arrival in Kavieng you are met and transferred by vehicle and boat (a journey of just 5 minutes) to your base on the island.

    Day 8 - 9: Nusa Island

    Each day you travel to different dive sites experiencing the fecund waters of the Bismarck Sea.

    Day 10: Boluminski Highway

    Today you are met by your private guide and travel down the Boluminski Highway along the stunning coastal road to explore this simple yet culturally rich area, stopping at villages to gain a feel for their subsistence way of living. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy this at an idyllic location on the way.

    Day 11: Nusa Island / Kavieng / Port Moresby

    Early this morning you are transferred to the Kavieng Airport to connect with your flight to Port Moresby and continue under your own arrangements.
