Epic Everest Update #6

Trek to Dingboche, 21 April

Apr 21 2014 Written by:Brad Horn

21 April: Greeted by perfect weather again today. In summary, we covered roughly 12 kilometres over the course of the day and gained in altitude 500 metres (1650 feet). It was a very picturesque day; seems that the views only get better as we move higher. We tracked the course of the Imja Khola River to our night stop at Dingboche. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly a ritual blessing by a Lama. This is a local custom for Everest aspirants to pay homage to the mountain, and be blessed for safe passage up the mountain and back to home. Kev, Ake and myself were given an amulet by the Lama that is expected to be worn around the neck on the mountain for safe passage.
