Ballina / Byron Bay

On arrival in Ballina you visit a koala care and research centre to learn about what is threatening the koala population in NSW and what is being done to mitigate the impacts of the threats to them in their natural environment. Free ranging koalas are often visible in the eucalypts surrounding the centre.

Day 2
Byron Bay

Enjoy the sounds of nature of the resort bush setting before joining your guide for a drive through the rolling Byron Hinterland to Minyon Falls. Here one can hike among the towering eucalypt and palm forests while taking in magnificent valley views. At a nearby forest there is a colony of koala; lunch is enjoyed at Rocky Creek dam to look for the rare platypus. This afternoon you visit the historical town of Bangalow for a walk among its quaint boutiques.

Day 3
Byron Bay

Hit the beach for some fun on a surfboard to learn to ride the famous waves of Byron Bay. Work up an appetite and indulge in a seafood BBQ at The Pass watching the local surfers riding the waves. Walk up to Cape Byron Lighthouse for the stunning 360 degree panorama at Australia’s most easterly point of land. Sea kayak with the pods of dolphins that are resident at the Wategos Beach, and enjoy the sunset at the resort with a sundowner in hand.
