Small Group

From time to time we offer small group journeys geared to the more far flung destinations. For milestone birthdays, life affirming long friendships, for any number of reasons, these small group safaris or adventures are celebrations and rewards, the mere thought of which energises and excites our clients.

These are often ad hoc and adventurous programmes and because of this, they can be guided journeys with an Epic guide on hand to take away the stress of organisation and shepherd you throughout.

By way of example – trips we have run in the past include, a snow leopard expedition to India, a trek to Everest Base Camp or a journey to Ethiopia or Madagascar. Group size is normally in the realm of 6-12 people, but this varies depending on the offering. That kind of number can also provide good value depending on the time of the year and destination.

It is important to note that any of our small group journeys can be tailored to suit a private group of friends or a family. Even if that big birthday or anniversary is a couple of years away, putting the plans in place for a celebratory holiday can be a wonderful target and motivation to have down the track.

9 Nights trip

9 Nights Adventure Kenya

This itinerary is designed for the more adventurous traveller, who prefers to be active and who is willing to forgo the more traditional definition of luxury by staying in lighter, mobile style safari camps. The luxury of this trip is in the exhilaration of being physically active, the remoteness, the mesmerising camp fire and night sounds under a million star sky, the care of the staff hosting by local tribespeople (Samburu and Maasai). Finish each day with a drink as the sun goes down after a piping hot, open air bucket shower and a wholesome freshly prepared meal before falling into a cozy camp bed with full linens and perhaps even a water bottle on cool nights. This safari is a wonderful combination of exercise ( moving on foot although the camp and supplies are carried by camels, cultural interaction in areas that rarely see travellers, and traditional wildlife viewing. The safari is dovetailed by luxury accommodations in Nairobi and the finale is a more traditional wildlife viewing safari in the iconic Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

13 Days Everest Base Camp

Great for small groups. A trek to Everest Base Camp is undoubtedly one of the great journeys of the world. The Himalaya houses 50 peaks of 7000 metres or above and the Khumbu Valley, which leads up to Everest, is smack bang in the centre of it all. The scenery is amazing. The trek is 9 nights and 10 days in total with nights pre and post in Kathmandu. We are accommodated in quaint, comfortable tea houses throughout. Our itinerary however differs to the mainstream in that we culminate the trek camping a night at Base Camp itself. We then helicopter back to Kathmandu thereby avoiding a 3 day walk out.

9 Nights Mount Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route

Climbing Kili with a small group or your family, is one of our most popular adventures. We think we do it better than anyone out there.

11 Nights Trekking for Snow Leopards

The Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh is one of the last frontiers for wildlife tourism. A winter trip meets the elements head-on in a stunning and apparently bleak landscape. But within these high valleys created by folds of the Great Himalaya is perhaps the highest density of the most elusive of the great cats – the snow leopard. The very name evokes all that is most wild, mysterious and elusive in nature – for this is an animal that comes cloaked not just in the subtle beauty of its own coat but also in all the high drama of the harsh and magnificent environment that it dominates. The Ladakh region is a high altitude cold desert and for the snow leopard to survive it has a prey base of bharal (blue sheep), ibex and marmots. Wolves, foxes and wild dogs are other predators in the same area. Photo Credit Surya Ramachandran

10 Nights Salkantay Trek & Machu Picchu

This is the ultimate active Peru itinerary. The Salkantay is a luxury lodge to lodge trek that follows the road less travelled to Machu Picchu. It is much less trammelled than the Inca Trail. You start the adventure in the Sacred Valley and Cusco before commencing the trek. You will be accommodated along the trail in small 6 roomed lodges complete with all the modern conveniences. The trip culminates with a visit to the fabled Inca city of Machu Picchu. This can also be combined with a visit to the Amazon and some other destinations in Peru, time permitting.
