Unlike their big neighbour across “the ditch” as Aussies and Kiwis call the water between them, the distances between towns and national parks are short in New Zealand. It’s a breeze to navigate your way on your Epic adventure. Of course their proud and distinguished history on rugby fields around the world has helped the country’s reputation for maintaining the highest standards. This flows through to accomodations and experiences, such as heli-skiing in the South Island.
New Zealand places a firm focus on adventure and physical activities, with solid multi day hikes like the Milford track and the Queen Charlotte track. From some of the world’s best beaches, you can be high in snow country or cruising fjords in short time, breathing in some of the planet’s freshest air. The endemic and under threat kiwi bird – a relative of Australia’s emus and cassowaries and important in Maori culture – can also be seen in just a handful of places.
If you’re coming from the northern hemisphere especially, New Zealand represents good value for money, with the country’s currency being softer again than the Australian dollar. The Maori people and culture are strongly represented in all New Zealand’s principle tourism regions and destinations and will welcome you with great warmth. There is much to see and do in Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud.
