7 Nights Antarctica MV Magellan Explorer

This fly-in/fly-out adventure is the ultimate way to experience Antarctica and avoids 4 nights ordinarily taken up crossing the Drake Passage. You embark by aircraft from Punta Arenas in southern Chile (the gateway to Patagonia) with a 2 hour flight over the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands. You then board the small expeditionary ship the Magellan Explorer and embark on an incredible 6 night cruise to the Antarctic peninsula. With a ceiling of just 73 passengers this ship delivers Antarctica in the best possible way, comfort and amazing adventure with two activities per day. Kayaking activities are available and limited to 10 people in total. The 10 spots must be booked in advance (at additional cost) and are not interchangeable with other cruise participants. The logistics of this programme make for an easy extension into Chilean Patagonia either pre or post cruise. This is a fantastic once in a lifetime experience that many of our clients have taken up.

Antarctica

9 nights premier Tanzania

This safari centres on magnificent camps and lodges in Tanzania whilst taking in the vastness of the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year you travel, catching part of the great migration. Starting in the safari hub of Arusha at stunning Legendary Lodge, you venture to Little Chem Chem, one of the country's most talked about camps nestled between Tarangire and Lake Manyara NP. Then it's onto magnificent Mwiba, Singita and the Serengeti. It can also combine well with gorilla and chimp trekking in Uganda or Rwanda or some days on the squeaky white sand beaches of the East African coast or Islands of Zanzibar or Seychelles.

Tanzania

Ecuador + Galapagos

A different Botswana 10 nights Green season

Botswana is a transformed landscape in the green or emerald season - roughly from December through to March. Migrant birds return herbivores are calving and the air is alive. The spectacle of the zebra migration is also likely as part of the Makgadikgadi experience. Rain is generally in the form of afternoon storms, which can bring on magnificent skies and sunsets. The camps have less people, the predators are still hunting and rates are cheaper. There is lots of upside to a green season safari at these wonderful camps in the Salt pans and the Okavango.

Botswana

10 nights exclusive Family Kenya

what our clients say

From our travellers

A photo taken in Africa feels like it’s for someone else. I don’t need to remind myself of any part of Africa because, in Africa, I was inescapably present. If you’d hypnotised me, I couldn’t have done a better job of blocking out the rest of world. What else would I think of while watching a pair of cheetahs push themselves to keep eating despite their burgeoning bellies; or a lion physically challenged to pull its kill to safety from circling hyenas and vultures; or a young baboon endlessly distracted while their troop moves on with steady pace and determination. The pictures that I took to memorialize these moments may be interesting to friends and family but are simply too one dimensional for me. In my mind these moments are enriched with the smell of dirt and grass, the smell of fresh blood and old/dried blood, the smell of the sun and heat radiating off every living thing during the day and that smell being slowly put to rest at night. I see the changing colours of the high grass in the winds and the crescendo of a sunset from yellow to orange to bright red with clouds of pink and purple. I hear the birds and crickets playing a calming soundtrack to a day filled with extreme exhibitions of both life and death. I feel a profound connection to a zebra with a broken ankle and another zebra that won’t leave its side; to a couple of gorillas that agree rolling down the grassy hill would be preferable to walking down; and to a lioness who only wants a moment to get a drink for herself and is tackled repeatedly at the hole by two of her cubs. Everything that is beautiful about life is in Africa absent the numbing competition of traffic, work, tv, social media, and the rest. Samadhi refers to “a state of profound concentration and absorption, often described as the merging of the self, mind, and object of meditation into one, leading to a state of bliss or enlightenment.” For me, this has only ever been achieved in Africa. Thank you to your entire team for the great gift that you shared with us. I cannot imagine a more perfect experience.

Inspiring stories

Whether it's some of the conservation based or social enterprise organisations Epic is involved with, or adventures that have had a big impact, these are some of the stories and people who have touched our lives over more than 20 years of EPJ travels. Many of our clients have also become supporters of these causes. At Epic, we are very conscious of the notion of giving back to communities to ensure that the places we love and travel to remain protected for generations to come.
